BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) is the undergraduate homeopathy degree in India, regulated by the Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH), now being transitioned to the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) under the Ministry of AYUSH.
Homeopathy is based on the principles of "Similia Similibus Curentur" (Like Cures Like) developed by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in the late 18th century. It uses highly diluted natural substances (mineral, plant, animal origin) to stimulate the body's self-healing mechanisms.
India is the world's largest practitioner of homeopathy with over 2.5 lakh registered homeopathic practitioners. BHMS is fully recognized by the Ministry of AYUSH and the Government of India.
