Document errors are one of the leading causes of seat cancellations and reporting rejections in NEET counselling. The counselling window is short — typically 2–3 days for registration — and you cannot add missing documents later in most cases.

Important: Always refer to the official Information Bulletin of your specific counselling authority (MCC, state authority) for the definitive document list. Requirements can vary slightly each year.

OBC-NCL Candidates (AIQ)

Central OBC-NCL Certificate (not a state certificate)

EWS Candidates

EWS Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format
Issued by Tehsildar / Sub-Divisional Magistrate / District Magistrate
Family income must be below ₹8 lakhs and not exceed land/property limits
Must have the official seal and signature of competent authority

PwBD / Disability Candidates

Disability Certificate / UDID Card issued by government hospital
Must show disability type and percentage (minimum 40% for PWBD reservation)

Some states require a fresh fitness certificate for medical education

Document Preparation Tips

Scan All Documents Now: Create high-quality scanned PDFs (clear, fully visible, no glare) of all documents well before counselling starts. File them by category in a dedicated folder on your device.

Make Attested Copies: Get 5–6 sets of self-attested photocopies ready. For important documents like category certificates, get notarized copies as well.

Check Certificate Validity: OBC-NCL certificates have a financial year validity. If your certificate is from last year, get a fresh one before counselling opens. EWS certificates may also have annual validity.

Create a Document Folder: Keep all originals in a dedicated folder. At reporting, colleges often ask for multiple documents simultaneously — having everything organized saves time and stress.

What category certificate is needed for OBC candidates in AIQ counselling?

For AIQ (MCC) counselling, OBC candidates must have a Central Government OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate. A state-issued OBC certificate is not accepted for AIQ seats. The certificate should ideally be issued within the financial year of application.

Is Aadhaar card mandatory for NEET counselling?

Aadhaar card is the most commonly accepted identity proof. However, other government-issued photo IDs like PAN card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License are also generally accepted. Check the specific authority's information bulletin for accepted ID types.

How many passport photos do I need for NEET counselling?

Keep at least 10–15 passport-size photographs (white background, recent). You will need them for online registration, college reporting, hostel admission, and various forms during the first year of MBBS.

What if my original Class 12 certificate is not yet issued?

Do I need a domicile certificate for MCC AIQ counselling?

No, domicile certificate is NOT required for MCC AIQ counselling since those seats are open to all candidates across India. However, if you are also participating in state counselling, a domicile/residence certificate of that state is mandatory for state quota seats.
