How many MBBS seats are approved by NMC for 2026-27?
The revised NMC 2026-27 matrix contains 1,40,214 approved MBBS seats across 836 colleges, excluding Institutes of National Importance. The notice is dated 10 September 2026 and the matrix is stated as on 1 September 2026. Approved intake is not the same as a counselling-round vacancy.
What is the All India Quota (AIQ) seat count for MBBS?
The MCC Round 1 PDF lists a source total of 31,728 seats across MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing counselling rows. It must not be treated as a simple 15% calculation of NMC national intake.
What does the MCC Round 2 clear-vacancy count mean?
The current source-validated snapshot contains 1,654 published MBBS/BDS rows with 7,046 listed vacant seats. These are seats listed vacant in the official MCC Round 2 document, not approved annual intake, a national total, or a guarantee that a seat will remain available during choice filling. Unresolved college mappings and the source B.Sc Nursing rows are excluded from the public snapshot.
How many BAMS seats are there for 2026?
This page does not currently publish a verified national AYUSH seat total. AACCC and state authorities publish course-specific matrices separately; use the linked official authority source for the current AYUSH matrix.
What does the CENTAC Puducherry seat count mean?
The CENTAC Puducherry snapshot covers 1,318 listed quota seats across eight mapped MBBS, BDS and BAMS colleges for 2026-27. It is a source-specific quota distribution, not a live vacancy count or a national seat total.
Are new medical colleges being added every year?
NMC can revise approvals and intake during the admission cycle. The portal preserves the academic year and source scope for the matrix it displays; later NMC or MCC revisions should supersede earlier snapshots.
Where can I find the official seat matrix for 2026?
For regulator-approved MBBS intake, check NMC. For current AIQ/deemed/central counselling seats, check MCC. For state quota and AYUSH seats, use the relevant state authority or AACCC. These matrices have different scopes and should not be combined without a source-backed reconciliation.
